A second moth night in October at Mousehold Heath

After the success of last week's moth night, Will, the Mousehold Heath warden, wanted to do another extra session last night (Oct 17th). This time we were trying out a different spot on the heath which we never tried out before. There was a bit of a cold night and the ground was soaking wet from the afternoon's rain. Not the best conditions for moths. In the end, we only caught 4 moths and out of them, we think, only two species. Three of them were November moths of some kind, though it did throw us off a bit when they had this ability to close their wings like a hairstreak butterfly when they land. The second other type of moth that we caught last night was a micro moth that we came to the conclusion of slender-winged grey.
