May 7th Mousehold Heath

Yesterday, I went for a short walk round Mousehold Heath with Mum. I was hoping to find my first green hairstreak of the year, but it wasn't to be. I'm usually good at finding them while on butterfly surveys and I know how much of a needle in a haystack (or should that be hairstreak in a gorse bush) they are. I will try again next week. I did, however, got to show Mum a couple of willow warblers, green tiger beetles, tadpoles in Vinegar Pond, a kestrel and she saw a great spotted woodpecker by herself.
