May 10th Mousehold Heath

Dusk over Norwich
This evening, I helped out with a dusk chorus bird survey at Mousehold Heath. Unlike the dawn chorus from Tuesday, this was a slightly subdued chorus. A bit on the quiet side, but there were still birds singing, mostly being robins, wrens and blackbirds with a few blackcaps, blue, great, coal and long-tailed tits, goldcrests, chaffinches and chiffchaffs in the mix. There was still no sign of the wood warbler despite hoping to hear it sing. However, it were the willow warblers that I'm quite surprised to not show tonight. It seems like they are a bit thin on the ground at Mousehold this year.
