Dec 10th Mousehold Heath

Group walk at Mousehold Heath today
Today, I joined a group for a walk around Mousehold Heath led by Peter Walton. This walk was about birds and it started with a tricky bird quiz, which I did fairly well on. After that, we made our way to St James' Hill where we could just make out a peregrine sitting on the nest box attached to the cathedral spire. It was a bit quiet on the bird front today with very few showing themselves long enough for the beginners in the group to get a good look at them. At least it was a nice sunny day and though we didn't see anything overly exciting other than corvids (carrion crows, magpies and jays), collard doves, woodpigeons, feral pigeons, long-tailed tits, blue and great tits, robins, house sparrows, a greenfinch, goldfinch and blackbirds and hearing wrens, it was still nice to be outside without fearing about getting soaked in the rain.
